What is occupational therapy?
Occupational Therapy in the school setting is a related service that addresses functional skills and daily "jobs" in the educational environment. Occupational therapy can help with developing underlying skills that support academic learning or help develop specific skills.
Occuaptional therapy activities may address and increase abilities in the following areas:
- Visual-perceptual skills
- hand and fine motor skills including handwriting and cutting
- sensory awarenss
- self-care skills
- oral motor abilities
- attention and organization
- pre-vocational tasks
- assistive technology
