Community Education

The goal of Maple River Community Education is to promote lifelong learning and community building activities in Amboy, Good Thunder, Mapleton, and Minnesota Lake. Community Education is a way for people to enhance their lives and communities through learning and collaboration. We hope to reach people of all ages from babies to seniors.

History Of Community Education

In 1971, The Minnesota Legislature passed statue that providing funding the establishment of public schools programs outside of the K-12 system that offer educational, social and recreational purposes beyond the regular school day and school year could use facilities.

This legislation was in response to the emerging community needs and programs ranging from early childhood family education and school aged childcare to adult literacy were developed. In 1991, programs for adults with disabilities were initiated and youth service and development programs were implemented.
