Isn't this absolutely crazy? In 30 years of teaching, I have never dreamed that we would be investigating options of teaching our full curriculum with distance learning platforms. This will be new for all of us, so please be patient during the process as we go through things that may or may not work the first time. Also, I do not want you to feel overwhelmed by the things being asked of you at home.
I know many of you may have already picked up your child's supplies and Chromebook at school. Please message me if you have any questions. Students do NOT need to start working on any of the homework that has been sent home. Do NOT randomly start doing reading or math pages just for something to do. These will be assigned when the district has made any additional decisions regarding closure after March 27th.
For right now, I will just be checking in with students through email and perhaps a couple new platforms to see how they are doing and to be sure we are learning about some of the tools we have to use if we remain closed longer than March 27th.
Students will all be going online for AM assignments. They may have a paper assignment that they had brought home from school, but that will be need to be deleted and reassigned as an online practice. Tests will also be completed online. Students should use the blue app on the "Our Links" page of their chromebook (the first one shown here) like they do at school. I don't think they need to use the HomeConnect. They will also be able to go through this link to continue taking AR tests.
Please do not hesitate to contact me via email or Remind app with questions or concerns. I will have regular "school hours" each day, Monday through Friday, regardless of whether I am working for home or able to come to the classroom. Calling the school at this point is NOT the best option for contact me as it is a day to day decision.
