Where will the new school be built?
The location for the new facility is on the south end of Mapleton near Highway 7.

When will construction begin? When is the school expected to open?
Construction of the building will start in spring 2020 with a projected opening in fall 2022.

How will Maple River students benefit from the new facility?
- Allow access to an improved learning environment, including space for individual work and collaborative space for students.
- Bring together students and eliminate building transfers for students, parents, and teachers.
- Create an optimal temperature, air exchange, and general quality learning environment appropriate from fall through summer months.
- Provide a designated learning space for our elementary program, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math), and offer additional learning space for students to work on creative, hands-on projects.
- Build upon the expanded AG Science department with an industrial kitchen for cooking classes and the opportunity to participate in a field to table program using produce from school gardens
- Provide the Special Education department with a sensory area and adaptive space to assist students in learning.
- Provide students who need a little extra help with a small group learning space.
- Allow general classrooms and common spaces to be sized appropriately for each age group with proper division of ages.
- Improve air quality, accessibility, safety, and security for our students.

What is the plan for existing school buildings?
Our first choice for the buildings would be to sell them so they can be repurposed. However, if no buyer is identified, the referendum does include a plan to demolish the buildings and turn those sites into grass lots. This plan is covered in the total cost of the bond.
