A message from Superintendent Anderson
Greetings Maple River Staff,
I hope you were able to find some time to relax and do the things you enjoy this summer. The Andersons had some adventures away but are now getting back into school mode. Our biggest adventure will be taking Izzy to college on the 18th, and despite dragging my feet, I can't seem to slow time. We'll soon add Northwestern Raiders to our list of titles and some red to our closets.
The building and school grounds have been under constant construction since you left, and somehow the to-do list seems to get longer as we cross things off. If you haven't been by this summer, you will notice many changes outside. We finally have all of our parking lots available to use, so we will be changing how we ask our staff to park. Please see the map using the link below. The bus parking lot was too full last year, and we need the space for all the moving parts in that area of the building. If you parked back there last year, please find a new favorite parking spot.
Attached, you'll find a link to the workshop schedule. Please take a moment to review it, noticing the specifics for new and returning staff. There are also several online items that need to be completed by the end of workshop week. Paraprofessionals should plan to join us for our opening workshop at 8:00 am through the end of the day.
Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Dan Anderson, Superintendent

Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 2023-24 school year at Maple River Elementary. Back to School Conferences will be held in person on Thursday, August 24th and Monday, August 28th. Our first day of school at Maple River Elementary is Tuesday, August 29th. Elementary School hours will be 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Parent drop-off and pick-up for elementary students will be on the west side of the building at the primary entrance doors. Bus transportation will be on the east side of the building. Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 8:00 am.
Parents will be able to schedule their student's conference themselves again this year with Signup.com More information will be sent to your email next week. (Reminder to set up a conference for each of your students.) Parents, students and teachers use this conference time to get acquainted, visit policies and procedures, share student's interests, strengths or concerns, and plan ways that school and home can create the best possible learning experiences for your child!
Hearing and vision screening will be offered during your conference visit for grades 1, 3 and 5 in the nurse's office. Watch for signs directing you where to go in the building. Lifetouch will be taking fall pictures for grades PK through 12 on Friday, September 15th. More info will be sent home with your student regarding pictures.
New Programs this year - School Supply Kits for Grades 3-5. Last year, Middle school parents had the chance to pilot this program, and an impressive 96% of them experienced significant benefits from the kits. Due to this overwhelming success, we are excited to announce the expansion of the program! Students in grades 3-5 can now purchase a Maple River school supply kit made specifically for their grade. You can order your student's kit online through the Campus Portal. Also, 5th Grade Phone Lockers will be implemented. Each 5th grade student will be assigned a phone locker and combination for the academic school year. We will provide their locker combinations at conferences.
Just a reminder to fill out the Annual Student Update on Infinite Campus through your parent portal before school starts. Elementary Milk/Juice break payments for the year may be purchased there as well. School lunch information, school supply list, student handbook and school calendar are all available on the Maple River website www.isd2135.k12.mn.us.
